Diwali and the Hindu New Year is one of the largest Hindu festivals celebrated across the world by millions of people. Often referred as “Festival of Lights”, Diwali celebrates the victory of good over evil, light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. Diwali presents a unique opportunity for Hindus to renew the rich traditions of their roots as well as a chance to reflect and introspect.

The day following Diwali is the beginning of the Hindu new year. This day is traditionally celebrated with the Annakut – literally, ‘a mountain of food’. Every year over 1,000 unique thals (vegetarian delicacies) are offered in devotional gratitude for the past year, and to seek blessings for the New Year.
